North Andover, Mass. – January 8, 2019 – Clearsurance, the leading online publisher of insurance consumer data, today announced a release date for its new agent offering. In addition to collecting reviews on car, home and renters insurance companies along with third-party sellers, Clearsurance will begin allowing consumers to write reviews of select agents in the first quarter of 2019.
With the introduction of agent profiles on its platform, Clearsurance will be collecting and publishing data across all three insurance buying methods — agents, carriers and third-party sellers. Clearsurance will initially launch with select agents that are affiliated with Security First and Horace Mann, both subscribers to Clearsurance.
“Ratings and reviews of agents is a critical link to providing a holistic offering to empower insurance consumers who rely upon insurance to protect their most valuable assets,” said Michael Crowe, Clearsurance CEO and co-founder. “We’re excited to bring transparency to the agent and agency space and allow consumers a way to find a highly rated agent in their area if they prefer to buy through an agent.”
In 2018, 37 percent of insurance consumers who left a review on Clearsurance indicated they used an agent to source and buy their insurance.
Additionally, Clearsurance announced the hiring of Jonathan Davis, a former agent himself and successful entrepreneur, who joins the organization as the company’s President. In his role, Davis will be refining and expanding the value proposition to insurance providers across all personal lines.
Davis, a five-time entrepreneur with more than $100m in venture capital raised and multiple exits, was the co-founder of Medicus Insurance Company, where he was responsible for market development and the first $50m in premiums written.
“We’re already seeing new market entrants, and the transformation in the insurance sector is just getting started. As things like telematics and autonomous vehicles become more prevalent, the industry is going to continue to evolve,” Davis said. “As a result, consumers are going to need the resources that Clearsurance is creating more than ever.
