Who is USAA?
The United Services Automobile Association has proudly served military members and their families since 1922. They offer automobile, homeowners, and renters insurance, as well as banking, investment, and retirement services.
USAA insurance prides itself on bringing the values of the military to its service, and on using military methods to help its members organize their finances. Their insurance policies have proven popular with current and former members of the military and their families, as there were more than 11.9 million members using USAA's services by the end of 2016.
Do I qualify for USAA insurance?
As you may have heard, USAA serves active military members in the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. They also serve former military members who have retired or separated honorably. They serve the family of military members such as widows, widowers, un-remarried spouses of USAA members, and individuals with parents insured by USAA. Cadets & midshipmen who are attending U.S. service academies in ROTC or officer candidates within 24 months of commissioning also are eligible for insurance services as well
If you're the family member of a deceased service member who was not a USAA member, you would not be able to sign up. They require the original service member's USAA ID to enroll family members.
