Texas Fair Plan Association ratings and coverages

TFPA insures Texas homes. They do not sell policies directly to consumers but work with Texas-licensed agents that are registered with them.

To be eligible for TFPA coverage your property must meet certain requirements established by the Texas Legislature. These requirements include the property type, denial of coverage from at least two insurance companies actively writing residential property coverage in Texas and adherence to underwriting guidelines of ownership, condition and occupancy.

On the TFPA website you can find an agent, check your eligibility, make a payment or file a claim.

Texas Fair Plan Association mission

TFPA’s mission is to efficiently provide essential residential property insurance products and services for eligible Texas policyholders when no one else will. In 1995, the Texas Legislature enacted legislation that authorized the commissioner of insurance to establish the Texas Fair Access to Insurance Requirements Plan, commonly known as the Texas FAIR Plan Association or TFPA, to deliver residential property insurance to Texas residents in areas designated by the commissioner as underserved.
