Cameron Mutual Insurance Company began in 1892 as the Farmers Mutual Tornado, Cyclone and Windstorm Association of the Third Congressional District at Darling in Gentry County, Missouri. It wrote its first car insurance policy in 1959. The company became known as Cameron Mutual Insurance Company in 1968 and expanded to sell insurance in Missouri, Arkansas and Iowa.
