People have become skeptical and less trusting of companies across the spectrum of products and insurers are not immune. For insurance, the word and recommendation of an insurance agent has, in the past, been sufficient but this can no longer be taken for granted.
For every new problem, there seems to be a new start-up firm that promises to address or perhaps take advantage of the situation. Clearsurance is one such startup that aims to be the insurance equivalent of Yelp or Glassdoor.
The company has developed an algorithm to score and rank insurers on a basket of metrics including user reviews, ratings, and data from AM Best, Better Business Bureau and Net Promoter Scores. The objective is to publish an independent index that represents actual customer experience.
